Bariatric surgery is refer to any surgery performed on stomach or intestine with intent to cure obesity and its co morbidities like diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol levels etc.
Principles of the surgery are
Sleeve Gastrentomy is an irreversible procedures that curtails the size of the stomach, this operation surgically removes two thirds of the left side of the stomach. This results in a new stomach which is roughly the size and shaped of a banana and looks like sleeve or a tube.
Laparoscopic Roux en Y Gastric Bypass procedure is a weight loss surgery that involves the creating of a small stomach pouch with the helo of staples that restricts food intake. In addition the initial segment of the small intestine is bypassed.
The Mini Gastric Bypass (MGB) is a short, simple, successful, reversible laparoscopic gastric bypass weight loss surgery. It has been recently renamed as One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass. The operation usually takes shorter time, with lesser or similar hospital stay as regular bypass
